Rebel With A Cause

What I define as PUNK is someone who is not afraid to be unconventionally themselves, not allowing society to conform them to their beliefs but they simply believe free & authentic.

When you’re authentic, you end up following your heart, and you put yourself in places and situations and in conversations that you love and that you enjoy. You meet people that you like talking to. You go places you’ve dreamt about. And you end up following your heart and feeling very fulfilled.

I didn’t have an easy life growing up….I’m sure many of us didn’t. I was raised in Ukraine & came to the states when I was 6. My dad wanted me to have a “real” career but I knew I always wanted to pursue art.

When I was seventeen I decided to rebel against my fathers wishes & sign up for beauty school & he cut me off completely.

I was a kid that was struggling in every way to find my place while trying to keep my head above water to survive.

You see in the eyes of the public being a rebel is considered being a punk. You become an outkast. To me being a punk means being your truest self and not following what your parents, friends or society wants. It’s living your authentic self and choosing happiness.

We have one life and it’s special. Special enough that we must choose our love, our passion, our happiness to come first above all.

So at 17 I became a punk and went to beauty school. Even though I was financially depleted my mother co signed my loan for me behind my dads back and she became a rebel with me.

Because of my rebellion and following my heart it has led me to where I am today.

So I encourage you to have a moment of clarity and think about your happiness. Did you listen to others or did you choose your happiness first. Your passion first.

I always say hair and passion saved my life and that is why I preach wholeheartedly the importance of following your journey even if it means being rebellious to find your passion and happiness.

So I’ll leave you with this question…are you a rebel with a cause?
