Ways To Balance Work While Loving Life

A new year is a time for reinvention, new beginnings, fresh starts, as well as a time of reflection. And 2023 isn’t any different. With the start of a new year, you can take the time to reflect on the past and move forward with renewed intentions for the next 365 days ahead.

Working as a freelance artist presents various difficulties, one of which being that most freelancers do not receive the typical paid-vacation time that traditional employees do (even though we work full time)! With that being said, it is extremely important to set time aside for yourself no matter how much you love your job. As a new year approaches, here are three ways to help you balance work while loving your life:

Pace Yourself

Don't become so absorbed in your work that you risk losing your identity. Yes, it is important to work hard, but when you become burnt out from your work, it is important to take some personal time and relax. Remember: Working is a way to finance your life, but you don't have to make it your entire life. In other words, work hard but don't let work overwhelm your life. As much as I love transforming my clients hair and perception of themselves, I understand that loving my personal life is just as (if not more) important. Take vacations, engage in alternative hobbies, and pace your journey in life so that you will enjoy every moment.

Know Yourself

Do you feel overwhelmed and/or overpowered by all the pressure and stress your work life is causing you? If so, perhaps it's time to figure out who you are, to truly find yourself, and determine when to say enough is enough. The bottom line is that in order to live a meaningful life, you need to understand yourself, you need to be confident, and you need to know when it's time to move on or end and/or start a new project in your life.

Love Yourself

If you don't love yourself inside and out, it will reflect on your work and could disrupt your overall productivity. You are in charge of your own happiness, and even though others will try to control you, your ability to love your life and be proud of your talent is all that matters at the end of the day. Fall in love with who you are and what your talent is, and your clients will fall in love with your abilities too!

It's important to work hard and take life seriously but still know how to take it one day at a time. When you are feeling overwhelmed, remember the following: PACEKNOW, & LOVE YOURSELF. If you need to re-energize, take a vacation or a brief break to stay in touch with who you are because the more you enjoy your life and who you are as a person, the more you will positively impact others!

On the road to success, the rule is always to look ahead. May you reach your destination and may your journey be wonderful. Happy New Year!

Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now.

You are so right. It took ne to lose my health before I realized I needed balance in my life. All work no play is not a life. Every day is special and we are not promised tomorrow. So live Every day to the fullest ❤️

Agreed…. ❤️ O have thought of this often and as the new year approaches I will be taking some “mini” vacations. It does help to refresh and reflect on my amazing incredible job. I do however feel guilty not having time when i get back to fit in all my clients . I do the best i can but that guilt does weigh. It’s a feeling that is hard to get out of my head. I just squeeze them in and then feel awful because I’m rushing . The balance is tough . Something i need to figure out. Seeing you soon in Warwick RI… maybe you can help me out and i am sure there are many stylists who feel the same…
