If you had told me a year ago that we’d be leaving Los Angeles, I probably would’ve laughed and said, “That’s the dream, maybe one day.” It’s the city where we built our life, our careers, and our friendships. But life has a funny way of working out exactly as it’s meant to, even when the timing feels unexpected.

Falling in Love with Amsterdam
My husband and I have always had a soft spot for Amsterdam. We’ve traveled all over the world, but every time we visited, it felt like we were being pulled closer to something we couldn’t quite name. There’s just something magnetic about it. The charm of the canals, the rhythm of the bikes gliding past you, freshly made pastries like stroopwafels made in front of your eyes, the way the city somehow feels both peaceful and alive at the same time. It’s a place where creativity seems to hum through the streets. The people, the art, the pace of life... it’s unlike anywhere else.
We’ve said it for years: Amsterdam is our favorite city not just in Europe, but the world. And even though we loved our life in Los Angeles, there was always this whisper in the back of our minds that maybe, just maybe, Amsterdam could be home someday.
Testing the Waters
When we finally decided to take the idea seriously, but we didn’t rush in blindly. We wanted to get a true sense of life in the Netherlands, not just the version you see on vacation. So, we spent time Airbnb-hopping around, staying in different neighborhoods and cities, just to see where we connected the most. We wanted to feel the energy of each place, explore local spots, and imagine what everyday life could actually look like.
And of course, after exploring all over, the answer was exactly what we knew it would be: Amsterdam. The moment we came back, everything clicked. It’s that kind of city where, if you know, you know. There’s an energy and a vibe that can’t be described, only felt — the sense that life flows a little slower but feels a little deeper.

The Plan That Wasn’t a Plan
At that point, buying a house wasn’t even on our radar. That was part of the five-year plan, a dream we were happy to let unfold in its own time. But, as the saying goes, “When you make plans, God laughs.” That’s been the story of this entire year for us . A series of unexpected turns that somehow led us exactly where we were meant to be.
One day, just for fun, we decided to look at a house that had popped up on the market. We weren’t even seriously searching yet. We just wanted to see what was out there, to get a sense of the housing styles and neighborhoods. It was purely out of curiosity. But when we walked through the front door, everything changed.
A Sign from the Universe
The house was everything we’d ever dreamed of: the perfect size, the perfect area, the perfect energy. It had character, light, and soul. The owner turned out to be an artist, which felt like such a beautiful coincidence since both my husband and I are artists too. There was an instant connection, like the universe was giving us a little wink and saying, “This is meant for you.”
We left the showing laughing, half-joking that we should put in an offer “just for funsies.” It was the kind of thing you say when you’re sure it won’t actually happen, a lighthearted “what if.” But life had other plans.
We put in the offer. And it got accepted.
Suddenly, this hypothetical fever dream turned into reality. And just like that, we were homeowners in the Netherlands! In the city we’ve loved for so long, in a home that felt like it was waiting for us all along.

We’re Going Bicontinental
We get the keys to the house on December 1st, and I can’t even begin to explain how surreal that feels. It’s the start of a brand new chapter, one rooted in creativity, intention, and love.
Along with keeping my current LA salon, I’ll be opening a boutique styling studio in Amsterdam this spring. It will be a space that feels deeply aligned with everything I’ve built so far and everything I want this next season of life to be.
I’ll still be working with my wonderful clients, continuing hair shows, and staying fully present in the work I love. I’ll be flying back to LA at least once a month for an extended work week, condensing all client appointments into that time, so no one’s going anywhere.
A New Chapter Begins
It’s incredible what happens when you stop trying to control every detail and start trusting the process. Sometimes you just have to say yes; to the opportunities, to the unknown, to those little nudges that don’t make sense until they finally do.
Because life’s too short not to take big risks and make bold changes.
So here’s to change.
To trusting your gut.
To leaping even when the landing isn’t clear.
To shaking things up and walking toward the life you actually want.
Because sometimes, when you take that leap… you don’t fall, you fly. 🖤
Thank you all for being part of this journey. I’m endlessly grateful. 🌍🥹✈️
