It's hard to believe that fall is ending, leaves have fallen, and change is in the air. Winter is around the corner, and with new seasons spark new endeavors. Some of you may be anticipating and preparing for the holidays, and the rest of you are pushing toward the next chapter in your life. I fall in the final category: I am entering a new chapter, but rather than focusing on how that shift is going to benefit myself, I am determined to learn how it will impact others.
I have been extremely blessed in my career and I am beyond humbled at the response I have had from my tour announcement so I cannot think of a better way to show my appreciation than to pay it forward this Thanksgiving. I want to share my gratitude by devoting this season to giving back.
I would encourage all of you to give back without expecting to receive anything in return. How can you challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone and make a difference in the lives of others?
How do you show your gratitude this Thanksgiving by giving back? You do not have to donate money to a charity to make a difference. Showing gratitude and giving back this holiday season can come in so many forms. Food drives, Operation Turkey, Turkey Trots, clothing drives, and various other non-profits provide a wide range of opportunities to give back as well. You can set aside time to have a conversation with someone who needs a friend. This may be someone you don't talk to regularly, but your time and interest could make an unforgettable impact. Or, you could contribute to someone's life by donating food and/or clothes. I promise there are endless volunteer opportunities in your community; if you don't know where to begin, Google is always a good starting point.
I want us to challenge ourselves to be different. Let's set ourselves apart and make this Thanksgiving a time to remember to give thanks by donating, volunteering, helping someone in need, or giving even giving someone a small gesture of kindness. I would love if you shared your creative, influential ideas in the comment section of this blog. Let's be a positive influence today, this month, and well, forever...1, 2, 3, GO!
